NEXT WORKSHOP: OCTOBER 24, 2025

Join PMJA Editor Corps Editors for this intensive workshop that will help editors and aspiring editors develop the tools they need to provide the best editing support. We will approach the editing process holistically, focusing on working in partnership with reporters to create clear, interesting, impactful news stories and features. Topics covered will include:

  • The reporter editor relationship

  • Story ideation for news and feature-length pieces

  • Encouraging clear, conversational writing

  • Editing for clarity, pace, and narrative structure.

  • Fact-checking

  • Trouble-shooting common editing issues

Much of the day will be spent listening, reading, editing and reviewing news stories and features. The focus will be on audio stories, with one session devoted to digital. There will be time set aside to discuss editing issues that you’re facing in your newsrooms.

This workshop is appropriate for newer editors as well as experienced editors seeking to hone their skills.
