Professional Bio

Writing and storytelling have the power to exact the changes we want to see in our society and speak truth to areas of obscurity which is why I am pursuing a career in journalism. I'm building my network for freelance work, and I currently write for the San Diego Community Newsgroup, which covers various neighborhoods in the county of San Diego, the PB Monthly and the Filipino Press. And I am the Gloria Penner Fellow at KPBS, San Diego's NPR station.

Through my fellowship and freelance experiences, I've reported on a wide range of stories while also gaining experience in multimedia news platforms. This allowed me to write in multiple formats from social copies, to scripts, to email campaigns.

In addition to writing, I have experience with audio and broadcast storytelling. I've crafted interview and narrative podcasts that voice people's lived experiences. I've been out in the field as a reporter and shared stories reflective of my community.

As the previous editor in chief at PLNU's student newspaper, I learned how to lead and run a newsroom that educates, informs and entertains our student body and readers. Leadership looks different for everyone, but my mission as a leader is to serve my community and my staff to produce news that makes an impact.

My goal is to tell significant stories to my community, amplify underrepresented voices in the news and learn from these experiences. Please feel free to reach out and connect!
