Professional Bio
Gustavo Sagrero is a journalist with KUOW Public Radio in Seattle covering race/identity for the newsroom. He's taken a non-traditional approach to finding a career in journalism.
Invested in journalism in late-high school, early-college --- life took him down a different career path, as a cook working in all different types of restaurants. Eight years later it wasn't until the pandemic, and some luck that he found the opportunity to pivot back into a career in journalism.
Gustavo covers stories about the impact of the inequity of the American caste system in all it's forms --- but also how people strive to address it. He ultimately wants to understand how communities and people are able to find emancipation, what gets in the way, and what power is at their disposal to effect the changes they want to see.
He still misses shift meals from time to time.
