Professional Bio
Priska Neely is the managing editor of the Gulf States Newsroom, a collaboration among member stations in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. She was named PMJA's 2022 Editor of the Year and is currently serving as president. She started building the regional newsroom in the fall of 2020 and has since put together a team of reporters and editors who have elevated coverage of criminal justice, wealth and poverty, health care and race and equity across the three states. Previously she worked at Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting and KPCC in Los Angeles, where she reported extensively on maternal and infant mortality in the Black community. Before that, she was a producer at NPR in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. She is a native of Silver Spring, Md. and enjoys singing, hiking and talking to her plants.
