Professional Bio

Kathy Goldgeier is Director of Collaborative Journalism, helping to strengthen editorial collaboration across the NPR Network. She is part of a team that is reimagining the way NPR and Member stations partner to report and deliver news to communities around the country.

Goldgeier works closely with the regional newsrooms that bring groups of stations together to share resources, coordinate coverage and reach new audiences. Her focus also includes the topic-based teams that pair an NPR editor with a group of station beat reporters to identify common themes and bring that reporting to the national audience.

Goldgeier came to NPR from Member station WAMU in Washington, D.C., where her roles included managing editor for broadcast and senior news producer. She helped coordinate daily news coverage that brought context and depth to the local happenings in the nation's capital. Before that, she shaped conversations and booked guests as a producer for the station's flagship local talk show, The Kojo Nnamdi Show.

The California native started her career in print journalism and covered city hall for the San Francisco Chronicle. She is a graduate of Stanford University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
