Slack Community Guidelines

General Guidelines:

  • Respectful Communication: Use appropriate language and avoid offensive or discriminatory content.

  • On-Topic Discussions: Keep discussions relevant to the purpose of the channel.  Not sure where it goes?  Use #general.

  • Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions. You never know when you’re talking to your future coworker.

  • Channel Etiquette: Use proper grammar and spelling.  You know this crowd...you will be edited!

Specific Guidelines:

  • Resource Sharing: Members are encouraged to share resources that may be of interest to other members. That said, posts to this community are only saved for 90 days.

  • Asking Questions: Feel free to ask questions of the community.

  • Business Promotion: Businesses are not allowed to post about their products or services for sale. Contact PMJA staff about opportunities to sponsor events and content.

Channel Structure:

  • Specific channels exist for each meet-up group, various job roles and affinities.  If you’re looking for something that you don’t see, just ask in #general and we can direct you or create a new channel if it makes sense.

  • Locked channels require invitation.

Consequences of Violations:

  • Warnings: Repeated violations of the policy may result in warnings.

  • Temporary Bans: Persistent violations may lead to temporary bans from the channel.

  • Permanent Bans: Severe violations or repeated offenses may result in permanent bans from the channel.

  • Reporting Violations: If you witness a violation of the policy, please report it to a channel moderator or the PMJA leadership.

Review and Updates: This policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to address evolving needs and best practices.

By joining and participating in the PMJA Slack channel, you agree to abide by these guidelines.
